Class Descriptions

All group classes are limited to 5-6 clients.  Classes range from 35 minutes for Express Pilates Classes to 50 minutes for all the Pilates Plus Classes.   Private and semi-private sessions are 55 minutes.  The basis of all classes, levels and private/semi-private sessions is contemporary STOTT PILATES® that focuses on proper biomechanics, alignment and ensuring clients have a safe, rewarding experience.  (See FAQ for more information on the STOTT PILATES method).  Clients in all group classes and levels will work on balance, core and peripheral (legs/arms) strength as well as proper posture and alignment.     

Express Pilates Class 35 Minutes – All Levels

This is a unique offering for Coachman Pilates, as most Pilates studios solely offer 50 minute classes.  Each class will begin with a brief warmup and the focus of the class will vary.  The classes: True to your Core (abs, pelvic and spinal stability focus), Blazing Buns (lower body focus) and Gorgeous Guns (upper body focus).   We also offer a Beginner Pilates Express Class which is a slower paced full body class geared to clients new to Pilates and covers basic Pilates Principles.   None of the Express classes will be the same as the props utilized will range from flex bands, foam rollers, gliding disks, rotational disks, triangle edge, arc barrel, small, medium and large stability balls, toning balls/weights, stability cushions, BOSU and others.  Clients will be introduced to Pilates Apparatus Reformer, Reformer Accessory Boards, Tower and Stability Chair and the class will be challenging but accessible.   All levels are welcome for this unique Pilates express class that will work on balance, mobility, flexibility, strengthening and lengthening muscles.

Beginner Express Class 35 Minutes - Beginner Level

This Beginner Pilates Express Class is a slower paced full body class geared to clients new to Pilates and covers basic Pilates Principles. This is an ideal 35 minute express class for those clients who are new to Pilates and want to learn the fundamentals.  We will cover the six basic Pilates Principles and is a good format for those clients who are recovering from injuries or other medical procedures / conditions.  The class will be a full body class, but will vary focus on core, upper body and lower body.  The Instructor will tailor the class for the clients attending that day.  It is a slow paced class geared to clients who want to learn the basics and get stronger at their own pace, but is also a great class for more experienced clients who want to focus on fundamentals. 

Pilates Plus 1.0 – All Levels

An essential level class utilizing mat, various props and introduction to reformer, tower and stability chair.  Clients will be introduced to Pilates Apparatus and the class will be challenging but accessible.   No class will be the same as the props utilized will range from flex bands, foam rollers, gliding disks, rotational disks, triangle edge, arc barrel, small, medium and large stability balls, toning balls/weights, stability cushions, BOSU and others.  All levels are welcome for this essential level Pilates class that will work on balance, mobility, flexibility, strengthening and lengthening muscles.

Pilates Plus 1.25 - Mastered Foundations Level

Feel like you've mastered the Pilates Plus 1.0 foundations, but not quite ready for intermediate Pilates Plus 1.5?  This transitional 50 minute class is a good choice for you!  This is a Pilates mat and apparatus flow class utilizing various props and equipment. After a warmup with various props, clients will utilize either the reformer, tower or stability chair. Clients will build upon the Pilates repertoire and Apparatus skills learned in the Pilates 1.0 essential level class. No class will be the same as equipment and props utilized will differ. This class requires a foundational Pilates repertoire and ability to utilize the mat, reformer, tower and stability chair. 

Pilates Plus 1.5 - Intermediate Level

This class is a Pilates apparatus flow class utilizing various props and equipment.  After a warmup with various props, clients will utilize either the reformer, tower or stability chair.  Clients will build upon the Pilates repertoire and Apparatus skills learned in the Pilates Plus 1.0 and 1.25 classes.   No class will be the same as equipment and props utilized will differ.  This class is a faster paced intermediate level and requires a solid Pilates repertoire and an understanding of the mat, reformer, tower and stability chair is required.  

Pilates Plus Cardio - All Levels

This is a fast-paced reformer based class utilizing the cardio tramp or jump accessory boards or other props. After a warmup, the class will be a high intensity interval, low impact class. Toning balls, weights or other props may be added to increase the intensity.  All levels are welcome.

Pilates Plus Restore - All Levels

A 50 minute restorative class utilizing various props, reformer or tower. The class will start with a warmup and follow with a series of fascial release movements to restore the muscles, calm the mind and release any fascial tension.  Various props such as foam roller, fascial release balls and flex bands will be utilized. All Levels are welcome for this gentle restorative class.

Pilates Plus 2.0 - Advanced Level

This 50 minute class is an advanced Pilates apparatus class utilizing reformer, towers, vinyasa triangles, accessory boards or stability chair. Client familiarity with setting up and changing equipment is necessary for this faster pass flow class. No class will be the same as equipment utilized and props will differ. This class builds on the repertoire learned in the Pilates Plus 1.5 level and adds in more advanced apparatus and Pilates repertoire. This class is not appropriate for clients with injuries, spinal, shoulder or knee restrictions.
